Welcome to the The Sixties Project. As you can
see from the grayed out links above we still have quite a ways to go before we can finish this up and move on back to the Fifites and forward to the Seventies. We welcome any help with content and would appreciate any ideas to improve this project. We now have the templates for each page set and we have got back to work on it. We hope to finish it up in a few months. If any of you would like to help out please email us.
Rather than
an encyclopedic plain text format filled with links, or
a commercial storefront posing as a Boomer or Classmates site, this retro project is
intended to create a nostalgic mood by presenting the sixties in a multimedia format that moves along with fun in mind.
Though the Sixties as a cultural event moved well into the Seventies we have decided to present this decades numerically from 1960 to 1969 to help get the Sixties Project in the can. Later we will decide how to deal with those cultureal overlaps of the decades.
As we have moved along with the Sixties Project we also found that that happenings in one year
were often credited to the next by awards and such as is the case with the time dilation between technology invented and coming into common use. Editorial
decisions had to be made regarding these issues as well as
what to exclude to make the project move along. You are more than welcome to correct us.
The car radio graphic is on each year's music page. Clicking on the radio icon opens your media player in a new window.
In a matter of a few seconds it will begin to stream about
15 minutes of music from that year. It does not stop when a new
page loads or when you leave the website.
The blue speaker icons contain embedded audio clips. They are pre-loaded so clicking them will play a short
sound immediately without having to open your
media player. They run only a few seconds.

Some videos are being served
from YOUTUBE and others we are serving ourselves using embedded flash files.
Though this is a multimedia site, because of space and bandwidth we cannot present everything with graphics, video and sound. We have done our best to spread it around as best we can. But if you come across a graphic, sound or video you think would fit well here email us.
